Keya Trammell

A fusion of melodic jazz, baked with soul & sprinkled with pop, is what you get when you let 2x Chicago Music Award nominee Keya Trammell pour through your speakers or captivate you from the stage. The South Suburban Illinois native grew up singing in the church choir and writing poetry. Keya Trammell, affectionately called “Gifted Keys”, always had a fleeting desire to pursue a career in music., It wasn’t until she posted a video on Facebook of her singing the cover of Erykah Badu's “On & On” that she realized her calling. That video went viral, garnering over 1.3 million views in a week, and she received an overwhelming amount of support and admiration. She captivated viewers with her vocal talent as well as for her hairless head.

Her hairstyle is more than a fashion statement, at the age of 2, Keya was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Alopecia Totalis which causes a complete loss of scalp hair. Trammell is an Alopecia Awareness Advocate and in 2017 she was named the "4 Star Chicagoan" from Windy City Live, an ABC 7 TV Show. She was honored with the title because of a heartfelt moment she experienced with a 4-year-old girl, Zion, at one of her performances. Zion also had alopecia and when Keya Trammell met her, Keya cried tears of joy. The interaction was shared on social media and again, her video went viral. Music is her passion, but using her platform to spread awareness about Alopecia is her mission. Hergoal is to bring the reflection of confidence on & offstage. Since launching her career, she has performed as the opening act for many artists and has even had the opportunity to perform alongside those such as: Stellar Award-Winning Angela Martin & Tony Tidwell; Grammy-Award Artist Lupe Fiasco, Chrisette Michele.
